The Director, Utilities & Energy Management is a key member of the Facilities Services Executive Team. The Direect is responsible for the continuous supply of utilities to over 100 buildings, 9.5M square feet of space over 3 campuses, this position requires strategic thinking, strong analytic capabilities, a team builder and decisive action for response to emergencies and planned utility outages. The Director, Utilities & Energy Management is required to develop long term strategic plans while balancing the need to ensure the continuous operations of our campuses. With a clear mandate to be carbon neutral by 2049 or earlier, the role requires exploration of alternatives to the current carbon rich operations from the Central Utilities Building at the Keele and Glendon Campuses. Oversight, planning and reporting of emissions as well as responsibility for the procurement and continual supply of energy from outside vendors working both directly and through consultants is critical to the role.



Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:

Applicable Engineering degree and Professional Engineering designation with specific focus on energy management, conservation and sustainability.

Minimum 7 years of progressive experience working within a unionized environment and leadership in the energy/energy management field.

Three years' experience in environmental and sustainability initiatives.

Experience in facilities, central plant and steam generation and distribution would be an asset as would designation as a Project Management Professional (PMP).

Experience working with steam and chilled water based central utilities will be very beneficial.

Working with automated systems such as BAS, lighting, boiler and chiller controls will be essential.
