General Job Summary: This is a full-time position, located on the Estherville Campus, primarily responsible for developing, coordinating, and teaching courses in the wind energy and turbine technology program as defined by the College. Must evaluate and report student performance and progress in assigned courses in accordance with the College and division policies and procedures. Must have the required credentials for teaching in this field. This position will also assist the Dean and/or project manager with fulfilling milestone objectives for grant funded projects. Position will require occasional travel between sites utilizing personal and company owned vehicles. Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and provide proof of insurance.
Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon successful passage of a criminal background check. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
Minimum Qualifications: Successful candidate will have:
Required:
6,000 hours of recent, relevant experience in the field or area to be taught or completion of a state or nationally recognized examination or A.A.S., A.S., or B.S. Degree or higher
Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
Well-versed in DC & AC electrical theory including electric motors and generators
Knowledge of rigging, signaling and basic rope access techniques
Strong knowledge of climbing, safety, rigging, and rescue procedures related to working at height in the wind industry
Preferred:
Prior teaching experience at the postsecondary level or equivalent training experience in the wind energy industry or related field
Comprehensive understanding of industrial electrical and mechanical systems including:
o DC & AC electrical theory, including electrical motors and generators
o Industrial motor control systems, programmable logic controllers
o Understanding of power generation and distribution theory
o Understanding of gearboxes, generators and other drive line components pertaining to wind turbines
o Field experience with wind turbine maintenance, climbing, safety and balance of plant operations
o Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, and other relevant industrial safety, and material handling standards

Essential Duties / Responsibilities
1. Effectively organize, teach, and evaluate student performance and progress in assigned course offerings in accordance with established syllabi.
2. Assignments may include various delivery formats, methods, work schedules, and locations including PSEO courses. (May include early mornings, evenings, and weekends.)
3. Evaluate, report, and record student performance and progress according to college and division guidelines.
4. Maintain current course syllabi and provide student guides for all courses taught.
5. Operate and maintain the college wind turbine and its maintenance contract(s) in an educationally sound, safe, and efficient manner.
6. Coordinate and communicate regularly with all members of the Wind Energy Program, Faculty, and Administration.

1. Coordinate continuing education programming.
2. Assist in advising the students and make referrals, when deemed necessary, to other College personnel, such as the Director, Dean, Counselors, Financial Aid, etc., for more specialized information and assistance.
3. Attend and serve on assigned and voluntary program and College committees, and assist in marketing objectives
4. Assist with setting up and administering safety and energy audits for our business partners in the manufacturing, electrical, and wind industry within a five-state region.
5. Provide logistical support to instructors and students with on and off-site assessments and training.
6. Assist in the development of new courses and revisions of existing courses in the Wind Energy Program area to ensure continued program growth and development.
7. Maintain established office hours.
8. Arrange lab sites for students’ practical experiences and monitor LMS progress. Assist with the recruitment and orientation of students.
9. Maintain communication with and organize the required meetings of the Program Advisory Board.

1. Regularly engage in professional development activities and keep current with developing trends and ideas in profession.
2. Assist in the process of requesting and maintaining instructional equipment and supplies for classroom/laboratory use.
3. Assist the supervisor in the budgeting process.
4. Assist in the maintenance and enhancement of communications within the College and community.
5. Encourage and foster student participation in professional organizations, College activities and community activities.
6. May be required to serve as a student club sponsor.
7. Assist with monitoring, resetting and reporting on turbine conditions in cooperation with the maintenance contractor and other internal and external stakeholders as required.
